How to Get Good Grades in School

With the ongoing ASUU strike that hasn’t shown any positive sign, only God knows when academic activities in schools would resume. Sadly, most students won’t make good use of the free days. Today, We decided to share some few tips on getting good grades in school with you to make sure you’re still on check. We do hope this helps.

Everyone knows how important it is to do well in school. Getting good grades in school requires dedication, motivation and studying. In order to have good grades you have to really make an effort and give it your very best. It’s not always going to be easy, but you can definitely achieve your academic goals if you set your mind to it. There are a few things that you can do to help you get good grades in school.

Vital Tips

Go to bed early and get enough sleep. In order to stay alert and focused in class, you must make sure that you get enough sleep at night. Therefore, it is important that you create a reasonable bedtime schedule and stick to it. So, try getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night (or a little more or less depending on the person’s needs).

Keep a calendar for school. You should develop a system to help you keep up with the due dates for assignments, tests and projects. Purchase or create some type of calendar, organizer or daily agenda, to use for all of your school related work.

Attend all of your classes and make it there on time. Excessive absences can really affect your grades and academic performance. Basically, you can not learn anything if you are not present in class. So, it is mandatory that you go to your classes and get there on time.

Pay attention in class. Be sure to listen to your teacher and pay attention to the class lectures. Your lecturer discusses important information that you must know in order to do well in your assignments and to pass your tests and exams.

Locate a quiet place to study. Perhaps you have a study room at hostel, home or maybe you’re able to study in your bedroom. You might even enjoy going to the library to study and do your homework. Try choosing a study area that is quiet and away from distractions.

Read your textbook and other materials. In order to help you better understand the lesson, you must take time to read the chapters in the textbook. You may also have additional supplemental books or resources for your classes, so be sure to read those materials too. Your lecturer may assign you chapters to read for the next day, so make sure that you complete the reading assignments so you can be prepared for the next classroom session.

. Complete all of your homework and do them yourself. It is important that you finish your homework in a timely manner. Your lecturer gives you the due dates for every assignment and you must see to it that you complete the work on time. If you do not complete your homework on time, your lecturer may refuse to accept the late assignments (unless you have a valid and approved excuse) or he may deduct points for turning it in late.

Study for tests. You can prepare for tests and examinations by reviewing your material and lesson as often as possible. Try creating a review sheet to help you study and form a study group with your peers. Be sure to do practice questions and review the questions that you answered incorrectly.

Warnings

Make sure that you ask your lecturers questions if you do not understand something. You can ask your lecturers for help during lecture or meet with her before or after class. Always remember that there are no stupid questions, so do not feel afraid to go to your teacher for help.

Be sure to relax and get plenty of rest. You do not want to overwork yourself and your brain needs to rest too.

We do hope this tips has helped.

Open Letter to Unilag- President of presidents

The Presidents’ President!

The present president of the peremptory presidents council porportedly passed the peeling out of the preceding preciding president! But why?! Could it be because the varying vicissitudes of the vague vestiges of the sanity of our vast communal village rests vicarously on the the few who may or may not be victor or villain! Verily, have we vividly viewed that these leaders are villains? Nay, not necessarily, but neither have they nested in the niche of our knowledge the nectar of reason for impeaching S.L.W. But being bereft of the ability to be benign and benevolent with the bona fide basis of the particular behaviour of the body, they have sent a bc on bbm. (*whew!*I shall now revert to speaking normally)
The subject of this bc seems to be their attempt to justify their actions and clear their name, however, this bc does not contain any concrete evidence but seems to be filled from top to bottom with hearsay.
Their excuse that ; “One of the major reasons why Seun was disposed is bcos he has been holdin secret meetins & havin secret conversations wit school mgt b4 & durin d protest,” seems to my mind to be absurd at best, how do you impeach a person because he was having meetings with the school management? One can deduct then that they suspect the school authorities of some hanky panky with SLW as well as other such hocus-pocus. And then they just seem hellbent on worsening their case as they add; “D details of such meetin,we his colleagues are not duly informed about” hence implying that this action was taken not out of knowledge of the devious nature of this meeting but out of their insecurity and what might seem to be hasty folly. They do not even know if Seun Lari Williams was summoned before the school management for questioning over the protest as is logical to expect!

Alas, they don’t stop there, “Seun has been rude & disrespectful 2 his fellow faculty presidents like tellin D President of Engineerin to “keep quiet cos he’s a minority” in a public function & referin 2 fellow presidents as his “boys” among others.” It only strikes me as queer that the repercussions of his so called statements are only arriving now, causing my mind to conjure up allusions to a certain maxim about justice delayed and justice served. (But oh well, the full maxim is muddled up in the whirlpool of my memory.) The second part about “boys” I would rather do the dignity of not responding to as it would be rather awry to discuss the matter of deposing a president because some people heard him refer to them as boys.
“Also, Seun was deposed bcos he has been found wanting in his capacity as the Chairman as he used the office to achieve personal & egoistic aggrandizement rather than saying the truth.” What could be more vague! There is yet some more; “In respect of his claim dat D council is “not honest & fair”, He’s right, d council deprived D public of d actual facts of his removal. Dat if we do would tarnish his self glorified & make believe positive image. Dis is a decision dat d council will neva regret.” The council is here porporting that they hid the facts of his removal to preserve the positive image of Seun Williams while at the same time casting aspertions on the very same image calling it “self glorified,” and a “make believe positive image”! Does this not question the honesty and supposed good intentions of their words? If it doesn’t then the world is flat, afterall!
Although the Law Students Society president has declared in an interview with the law society blog that he would not take up the issue with anybody this is not to say that the rest of us should be silent over this monstrously malignant maliciousness that has been metted out to make a martyr of the mesmeric president!

CHICKEN INVASION AND UNILAG GIRLS

Underground bakery used to be the hot spot in Unilag, as time passed, Chinese restaurant strolled in, which was sent in by Sharwama spots and now Chicken and chips and chicken suya
In a letter forwarded to unialariwo.wordpress.com recently by the chicken representative, it stated,”Unilag girls have been consuming us over a decade now, tell them to stay prepared for the chicken invasion”. Heheheheheh…just kidding .

But then frankly speaking, for over a decade now, about 90%, if not 100% of all Unilag girls have chosen to consume more chicken than any other animal since they got into school… Even when most of these girls cannot afford the so-called chicken and chips and chicken suya by the penny given to them at home by their parents, they still go ahead to charge boys to get it for them, as most boys already believe you can get through some unilag girls’ pants mainly by getting them chicken and chips.

“Boys are complaining Ooooo!!!!, girls”, this we can see in the recently concluded commodities price hike protest protested by Unilag boys, when the boys started chanting price of chicken and chips which goes for 500-600, depending on chicken size, should come down.

According to analysis, for about the 3 chicken and chips spots in unilag- Amina hall, New hall and jaja hall frontage, it was gathered that newhall spot sells most of which the boys buy it more but the girls eat it more. Newest hall spot sells next, of which there’s balance between the rate at which boys and girls buy it and consume it, then Jaja spot where Moremi girls buy it more with their money.
Out of frustration from one of the Unilag boys interviewed, he stated,”Unilag girls had better be careful, trying to frustrate us with their demands for chicken and chips and chicken suya, or they’d get poisoned someday soon eating birds with flu”.

Unialariwo reporter was able to gather pictures from these spots

QUICKIE SPOTs INSIDE UNILAG REVEALED

Its no longer a news that university of Lagos school authorities restrained male and female students of the higher institution of learning from entering eachother’s hostel, this has been a norm for over 6 years now if not more than that. This restriction has not really been nice to guys who wish to reap from where they have sown *wink*
It has also given impetus to girls to play a fast one on unsuspecting guys; they say YES when you approach them, they share your pocket money with you, you take them to cinemas, you buy them the utmost chicken n chips and all you get is a hug, and if you are smart enough, a kiss!
But trust my Unilag sharp guys, they’ve also deploy a way of tackling this menace. They either rent an apartment outside school or stay in any of the staff BQ, so they can enjoy the “fruit of their labour”/ reap from where they’ve sown.  And those that can’t afford to get  an apartment have resulted to choose spots within the school to de-konjilize their Konji…… Here are some of the spots;

-EDUCATION LOVE GARDEN

This spot is well positioned for this unholy act, with some street-light bulb fixed in some part of the arena, some part of the arena is still dark in the night and it’s a perfect spot for lovers and randy goats in education. There are has been reports and complains that used condoms usually littered the floor very early in the morning.

-DLI

Where do I start from? I call it “city of sin”. DLI environs house many cool spots for randy lovers , in fact DLI is the real deal. The car park is for the big boys who are on ride, they usually parked their cars under the tree and right inside their automobiles, and they get HEAD, eventually have a QUICKY.    When you see a car moving or shaking vigorously around DLI, action is taking place! You can peep to get a glimpse of what am talking about but if you are caught invading privacy, don’t say I asked you to.

-MFM BUSES

Another incredible spot is right inside the MFM buses parked strategically at DLI. Yes it’s true! Though its sounds very absurd but it has been confirmed to be a hot spot. Some of those buses have no doors, so its easy to get in and out without much attention. But for those using the Ride of God for couch of indecency, God is watching you in 5D!

-BACK OF UNILAG CONSULT

You all know Unilag consult shey? The building by first bank at DLI, that building with a very large car park! It’s  also a good spot and there are unconfirmed rumors that the security there can be offered as little as 100 naira to let you have your way at their back-yard.
-PATHWAY TO MEDICAL CENTRE

Another ridiculous venue is the pathway to medical centre. This is the most astonishing of all, in fact very dangerous because of its closeness to swamp. It’s a legged bridge which must have been constructed before the main road linking DLI to sciences. This small bridge boasts of 2 rusty rails on both sides and the bridge sits on top of a swamp. The bridge is always dark at night and you know what? I have seen people having doggy right there with my korokoro eyes. Though they didn’t know I caught them, because the guy hugged her from behind and was motionless when they saw me coming. I walked pass them as if I haven’t noticed anything but as a sharp guy, I look down and they were both PANTS DOWN!!!

Watch out for part 2!

Seun Larry-williams, Man of himself or his followers?

Claiming to have single-handedly led the price protest in Unilag, when it couldn’t have been possible without the general public’s support, thereby misleading the general public and students by attending a meeting with the university management alone during the heat of the protest without informing other Faculty Presidents who were negotiating prices with the sellers on campus for over 4hrs,granting unnecessary interview to the press during the protest period, misinforming the public as to the role of the Council of the Faculty Presidents in the last protest on campus, and also giving false comments about the rationale of the G20 Youth Summit in St. Petersburg, among others.

In recent publication on 25th May,2013 by the University of Lagos Faculty Presidents, thereby inform the general public and students of the great school that Seun Lari-Williams (Faculty of Law President) of has been deposed as the Chairman of the Council of Faculty Presidents, Replacing him with Nelson Emmanuel Fisayo (Faculty of Arts) as the new Chairman of the Council of Faculty Presidents forthwith.
